Growing in God’s Grace Trinity’s Challenge
Trinity
Presbyterian Church
See, I am doing a
new thing! Now it springs up. Do you not perceive it?
Isaiah 43:19 Founded In Love When our
founding families first organized Trinity Presbyterian Church in
February 1933, they shared a community church building with local
Baptist and Methodist congregations. It was 1959 before our current
location was purchased and ground broken for a new Sanctuary, a
building that we now use as our Fellowship Hall. The current
Sanctuary was constructed in 1991 and the Thorpe Education and
Administration Building opened in 1998. How can we not be humbled by
the faith shown each step of the way by our church family. Our
congregation has developed a strong sense of being “God’s people
gathered” …committed to our mission and eager for fellowship,
Christian education, worship, ministry and outreach. I was
glad when they said unto me, “Let us go up to the house of the Lord”
Ps 122:1 Today Trinity is
“bursting at the seams”; our facility is just not adequate
for us to minister as the times require. Many spaces are forced to
serve multiple purposes. Our areas for children, youth and adult
programming are not sufficient and afford little opportunity for
growth. The Fellowship Hall accommodates less than one half of our
congregation, and there is no dedicated space for music rehearsal,
one of our most significant elements of worship. Our buildings seem
unwelcoming and confusing to first time visitors. This is
unfortunate since north Greenville County is enjoying an influx of
young families and empty nesters who are seeking a spiritual home.
And so we have come to another critical point in our history. The
time has come to build on our heritage and enable Trinity to serve
both our own generation and future generations. |
