The Case for Christ
by Lee
Strobel
(A
Journalist’s Personal Investigation of the Evidence for Jesus)
Using his background in law
and investigative journalism, this former atheist interviewed thirteen
leading evangelical scholars and authorities, asking the tough questions
about Jesus of Nazareth and the biblical record of his life. He
challenges and probes the experts, and in doing so, assembles the
overwhelming historical evidence of the claims of Jesus.
This book provides
believers, agnostics and seekers with the historical underpinnings of the
Christian faith. It is a fast-paced, fascinating and exciting book.

A Bend in the Road
By David Jeremiah
It happens to every one of us, not only with loss of family
members or failed marriages: somehow, all the same, life comes crashing
down.
The loss of my daughter may well be the most
excruciating blow that a parent can endure, but you can be certain that
every other tragedy life dispenses offers its own unique form of
suffering.
How does a parent continue to exist beyond that moment?
In the past year or so, I learned more about God’s love than I had in all
my years of being a Christian. I learned that His Word speaks to our
needs.
“My
grace is made sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in
weakness”.
I wish for no one the experience of losing a child, but
a greater tragedy is to lose the opportunity to know Jesus Christ
intimately.
How grateful we are that our children know and love Him.
Life has meaning for us simply because we have the assurance, when this
life is over, that we will all be reunited.
When difficulties burden us, we must remember our
reasons for gratitude to God. This won’t happen if we imprison ourselves
within self pity and preoccupation with loss and fear.
Having read this book, I found great confidence in
knowing I have a great friend in Jesus. Can you believe that the best for
me is yet to come? Can you look beyond the bend in your road and trust
that even though you can’t see where the winds blow the best is yet to
come?
Thanks
and Praise the
Lord of our assurance of
Him.

What the Cross Means to
Me
By Max
Lucado and Others
Although a small book, its eighty pages abound with powerful expressions
of faith. Spiritually uplifting are the words of Max Lucado, Kay Arthur,
Charles Colson and others who share with us what the cross means to them.
Common threads of our Christian faith – love, grace, forgiveness,
salvation, eternal life, and hope – are woven throughout the passages.
Some of the authors relate life changing experiences, others challenge,
while still others passionately express their awe at God’s love.
Interspersed among the pages are quotes such as the following, which seems
an appropriate summation –
“The cross alone is our theology.”
Martin Luther

P.S. I’d like to add a little footnote about the
beautiful photographs by Rob Holt of the cross throughout the book. Each
photograph is so different yet it is the same cross – a 12 foot- high,
white wooden cross belonging to the Valley Christian Schools in San Jose,
California. Mr. Holt has given a name to each photograph and has made
each photograph completely different by changing the background sky
