Founded In Love

When our founding families first organized Trinity Presbyterian Church in February 1933, they shared a community church building with local Baptist and Methodist congregations. It was 1959 before our current location was purchased and ground broken for a new Sanctuary, a building that we now use as our Fellowship Hall. The current Sanctuary was constructed in 1991 and the Thorpe Education and Administration Building opened in 1998. How can we not be humbled by the faith shown each step of the way by our church family. Our congregation has developed a strong sense of being “God’s people gathered” …committed to our mission and eager for fellowship, Christian education, worship, ministry and outreach.

I was glad when they said unto me, “Let us go up to the house of the Lord”         Ps 122:1

The focal point of the Sanctuary is the wooden Celtic cross, designed and built by late member Bob Beckham.  The Celtic cross has long been associated with the church in Scotland, where Presbyterianism originated.  The circle surrounding the intersection of the cross members represents the eternity of God.  The Celtic cross is prominently displayed throughout Trinity: on the front outside wall of the sanctuary, on the sanctuary lights, on the narthex scones, and in the glass inserts in the sanctuary doors leading to the narthex.
