Benevolence & Mission Display Featured at Open House
Trinity celebrated the opening of its new facilities on December 6th. In an effort to tell the Trinity story to the community, a display was presented which contained information about our local, national, and international projects. Representative of our involvement is participation in the Souper Bowl of Caring, One Great Hour of Sharing, the Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina, Habitat For Humanity, Heifer Project International, Thornwell Home For Children, Joy Gift, Angel Tree, missionary families, and the Oakmont Nursing Home.

Community Ministries
InDwellings- is a ministry of the Foothills Presbytery dedicated to building homes for Upstate adults with developmental disabilities. Many of these people and their families have no option for a safe and respectable home when their parents and loved ones of these adult children can no longer care for them. Trinity financially supports this building effort.
North Greenville Food Crisis Ministry –This is a regionally supported non profit, incorporated emergency food distribution ministry staffed by volunteers which provides food for individuals or families who are experiencing severe financial hardships. A family may also receive help with utilities, rent, or medicine once a year. Many Trinity members serve in various aspects of this ministry to the community.
TR Habitat for Humanity project – Habitat for Humanity is a non profit, nondenominational Christian Housing Organization which builds simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with those who lack adequate shelter. Trinity has been active in initiating the Travelers Rest Habitat project in collaboration with other community churches and businesses. Members have assisted in the actual construction of houses, in providing food for the work crews, providing financial support and organizational support in the building of the first three habitat houses in TR.
Project Host – is a volunteer project supported by many of the churches in the Greater Greenville area designed to feed the homeless in Greenville. The facility is located on South .Academy St. in Greenville, SC. Trinity volunteers prepare, serve, and clean up after the Sunday mid day meal three times a year. Approximately 125 – 175 men, women, and children are fed by the 12 to 15 volunteers who participate. We solicit additional volunteers to help.
Oakmont East Nursing Center in Berea, a division of HCR Manor Care Inc., provides skilled care for 123 persons. Several Trinity members serve as volunteers and provide services that enhance the quality of life for the residents. Many residents have no family members or friends , so a "Friendly Visitors" training class is available for volunteers who might enjoy spending time "one on one'' at their bedsides .Other opportunities for volunteering include escorting residents on short trips, assisting with special events ( plays, concerts etc .) and the weekly craft classes .
HUGS club – Children of Trinity visit Oakmont Nursing Center monthly. They share birthday songs and special gifts, garden with the residents, have sprinkler parties, Easter egg hunts and simple visits complete with hugs. These children put God’s love into true action by caring for the elderly and sharing God’s love through this very special ministry.
Angel Tree – This is an annual project designed to provide Christmas gifts to children within the Travelers Rest community who would not otherwise receive gifts. A tree in the church foyer is decorated with ornaments describing gifts needed. Congregation members and friends take the ornaments, purchase the gifts and return them to the church for distribution to the children.
A Child’s Haven – The Trinity family contributes financial support to this ministry which is a center for the treatment of children between the ages of 2 and 5 who have been physically and/or psychologically abused.
Meals on Wheels – The Trinity family contributes financial support to this program which delivers a hot lunch to the homebound in the area who are either physically or mentally incapacitated to the point where meal preparation is difficult if not impossible.
Thornwell Home and School – This Presbyterian Children’s home located in Clinton, SC is the recipient of financial support from Trinity.
National and World Ministries
Heifer International Project – This project is an example of helping people to help themselves. A family in an impoverished area is given a breeding pair of animals, such as chickens, cattle, rabbits, or goats with the hope that the animals will produce offspring as well as food The family is expected to share their young stock with others when they are able. We have an offering every year for the Heifer Project at which we are asked to donate and the fun part is that we get to choose the animal that we give!
Operation Christmas Child (Shoebox ministry) This international ministry, led and coordinated by Franklin Graham gives congregants the opportunity to share toys, candies, school supplies, and toilet articles with children in underdeveloped countries at Christmas time. A copy of the Christmas story is added to each box before being shipped to the recipients.
Donkorkoran Hospital ministry in Africa – Trinity provides financial support for this evangelistic/health ministry in Ghana.
